Byron Greens for Council 2024

Byron Shire has reached a tipping point. Our future hangs in the balance. The Byron Greens council team places our community and precious environment at its heart.

The Byron Greens are proud to put forward a powerful team of community champions in the upcoming Byron Shire Council elections. Sarah Ndiaye, Elia Hauge, Delta Kay, Michelle Lowe and Nell Schofield - five remarkable women who have spent their careers teaching our kids, caring for our residents, and leading grassroots initiatives. They understand the challenges facing our shire and are ready to put local voices at the heart of Council decision-making. As Greens, they'll fight for urgent action on housing affordability, drive a community-led response to the climate crisis, and ensure the diverse lived experiences of our community guide Byron's future.

We’re committed to collaborative, community-centred local leadership. With two Bundjalung women on our council team, we are putting First Nations voices at the heart of our decision-making. We have youth, diversity and experience on our side.

Greens on Council have worked tirelessly for many years to preserve our community’s values. We’ve won a limit on development heights, created vital wildlife corridors, nurtured the greening and reforestation of the region and fought against destructive and environmentally inappropriate developments.

We’ve worked with First Nations communities to give land back to the Arakwal people, fought against greedy corporations to win a 60-day cap on short term letting, and created an affordable housing strategy. We have fought for issues that matter, and we’ll keep fighting.

We stand for a kinder more respectful form of politics. We stand for you.

Together we will create the future we want to see. So this September, vote for Byron Greens on Council.
